Tapo & Google Drive Sync Guide
- Automatic Background Fetch: The background grabber automatically checks and syncs new files from g:\Môj disk\Smarthome TAPO\temperature\ on every scheduled interval (and when clicking "Fetch Now"). Manual sync via "Sync from TAPO Folder" is also available anytime.
- File Naming Convention (-data matching): Everything behind / after -data is treated as the same station! For example, vnutri-povala-data-2026-09-24.csv or vnutri-povala-data.csv will both automatically add into the same station: CUSTOM vnutri-povala (povala).
- Station Resolution: If the station already exists, new rows are appended. If it's a new station, it is registered automatically and enabled for tracking.
- Automatic Deduplication: The database enforces unique timestamps per station (UNIQUE(location_id, time_str)). Overlapping date ranges in exported CSVs are safely ignored without duplicates or errors.
- Data Fields: Captures both Temperature (°C) and Relative Humidity (%).

About SHMU Weather Grabber
SHMU Weather Grabber is an autonomous, self-hosted weather monitoring, hydrological tracking, and smart home climate analytics portal. It continuously archives official environmental measurements from across Slovakia, integrates personal smart home sensors, and provides high-performance interactive visual analytics.
Tracks river water levels (cm), flow rates (m³/s), water temperatures, and river kilometer progression (upstream to downstream) across Slovak river basins.
Monitors air temperature (°C), wind direction, wind speed, atmospheric pressure, and weather conditions with diurnal variation tracking.
Records 1h, 3h, 12h, and 24h rainfall accumulation (mm) along with automated monthly rainfall totals and peak hourly rain event detection.
Automatically syncs temperature and humidity CSV exports from TP-Link Tapo room/outdoor sensors via Google Drive with intelligent deduplication.
Data Sources & Attribution
- Official Slovak Weather & River Data: Scraped and parsed directly from the official web portal of the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ - Slovenský hydrometeorologický ústav).
- Radar Imagery: Composited 5-minute radar reflectivity frames provided by SHMÚ radar networks, cached and animated locally for smooth playback.
- Personal Sensors: Synced from Google Drive folder (g:\Môj disk\Smarthome TAPO\temperature\) and manual CSV uploads.
Key Features
- Customizable Dashboard: Real-time station tiles with mini-charts, trend indicators, pinning to top, drag-and-drop custom ordering, and River KM sorting.

- Radar Animation: Full video-like interactive player with scrubbing slider, play/pause controls, keyboard shortcuts (← / →), and past date archives.
- Autonomous Daemon: Runs continuously in the background, scheduled to fetch new data at your preferred interval (default 15 minutes).
- Secure Remote Access: Built-in Cloudflare Tunnel integration (weather.trusik.link) with read-only security for public visitors, plus zero-config local network sharing for home tablets.
- Data Portability: Every station and the whole database can be exported to standard CSV files at any time.
Architecture & Technology
Custom Locations & Tapo Folder Sync
The Custom Locations module lets you import temperature and humidity records from external sources (such as TP-Link Tapo smart temperature sensors) into your database alongside official SHMU stations.
How Tapo & Google Drive Sync Works
- Automatic Background Sync: The background grabber automatically checks and syncs new files from your Google Drive folder (g:\Môj disk\Smarthome TAPO\temperature\) on every scheduled cycle (default every 15 minutes) and whenever you click "Fetch Now". You never have to manually click sync unless you want an instant refresh!
- Source Directory: Reads directly from:
g:\Môj disk\Smarthome TAPO\temperature\
- File Naming Conventions (-data matching rule):
- Everything behind / after -data is treated as the same location file!
- For example, whether the file is named vnutri-povala-data-2026-09-24.csv, vnutri-povala-data-20260924.csv, or vnutri-povala-data.csv, the system strips everything from -data onwards and assigns all measurements directly into CUSTOM vnutri-povala (povala).
- Files without -data (such as spalna.csv) have .csv removed and are imported as CUSTOM spalna.
- Station Matching & Merging:
- If a station named CUSTOM [name] already exists, new measurements from the file are automatically merged into it.
- If it does not exist, the app automatically registers a new station, marks it as tracked, and populates its initial history.
- Automatic Deduplication:
- The database table enforces a unique constraint on (location_id, timestamp).
- During import, an INSERT OR IGNORE statement is executed. If a measurement for that exact station and timestamp already exists, it is safely skipped.
- You can safely add fresh or overlapping CSVs at any time! Only new timestamp entries will be added.
- Tapo CSV File Format:
The importer expects the standard Tapo exported format:
timestamp,temperature,abnormal_temp,humidity,abnormal_humidityTimestamps in either YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS or ISO YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS are supported. Temperature (°C) is stored as the primary reading and Humidity (%) is saved in metadata.
2026/09/20 00:00:00,18.4,,65,
2026/09/20 00:01:00,18.5,,64, - Adding Custom Locations Manually: Click "Add Custom Location" to upload any single CSV file directly and assign it a custom name.
- Export CSV: Every custom station can be exported as a full CSV history using the Export action button in the table.
Dashboard & Overview Tiles
The Dashboard displays live sensor cards for all your tracked stations, updated automatically by the background grabber.
- Tile Structure: Each tile shows the station name, measurement type, latest value (with units like cm, °C, mm, and humidity %), and the last update timestamp.
- Expandable Mini-Charts: Click anywhere on a station card to expand or collapse its historical trend graph.
- Toggle All: Click the Toggle All button at the top to simultaneously show or hide graphs on all cards.
- Sort by KM: For river/hydrological stations, groups stations by their river and orders them sequentially according to river kilometer (upstream to downstream).
- Time Range Selector:
- Last 24h, Last 3 days, Last week: Shows recent fine-grained measurement changes.
- From beginning - daily: Daily Min and Max values from the earliest recorded measurement to today.
- From beginning - monthly: Monthly extremes (or monthly total rain).
- Daily differences: Charts the fluctuation span between maximum and minimum value per day.
- Temperature Degree Color Highlighting: Temperature graph Y-axes highlight critical levels: 0 °C (Frost / Blue), 20 °C (Comfortable / Green), and 30 °C (Hot / Red).
